Busy time of the year at the Orchard!

Well, time flies when your having fun, or working lots as we have been.

Pretty much every day for the last few weeks has been quite full on here at the Orchard, getting lots of plants and vegs ready for market, loading and unloading the vans, and planting more seeds, looooads of seeds infact!!

We must have planted several thousand different plants in the last 2 weeks, and watching them all germinate and then grow into lickle plants has been really cool  …. atleast it shows we have green fingers, haha!

Here’s some Asparagus we planted up, and then the 2nd picture is only 6 days later … how much have they grown, blimey!!

As you can see, and if you didn’t already know (me!) Asparagus grows pretty damn quickly!

We’ve also taken a number of cuttings from the multitude of Mint plants we have here at the Orchard, Pineapple Mint, Apple Mint, Chocolate Mint (mmmm) to name but a few!

We continue to plant up loads and loads of Strawberry plants, Opal and Haple seem to be the most popular among our customers.

Here’s a cool couple of pictures I took one morning of some water droplets on the lickle Strawberry plants!

Amongst all the fruit n veg we grow here, we’re also growing herbs too! … which is great as it means we can grab ourselfs some lickle plants and put them into our new raised beds that I have boshed together infront of the tent…

Just got to fill them with compost now, and then put some clear plastic over them to heat the soil up ready for planting the herbs into, but also some of the seeds of some heirloom vegs we have brought.

We going to try and grow some White and Yellow Carrots, some Giant Sugar Peas (from 1800’s!!)  and also some other bits too, including some Potato’s, but there going into there own special pots as it is easy to grow them in big pots I find … he says, having only grown them for 1 season before, haha!

Anyway, we’ve been pretty busy during the week lately, and we’ve not done alot during the weekends apart from relax and enjoy being in the tranquility of the Orchard!

Here is a couple of cool pictures I took today whilst walking through the Orchard of some lickle Apples and Plums just beginning to show…

In the pic above, you can see the lickle Apples beginning, there the Purple bit behind the flower head bits … how kool huh!?

And last but not least, some Gooseberrys, well on there way, ready to be picked in a month or so…

Phew! … theres so much going on here, it’s a wonder our heads don’t explode.  But atleast all the work is done at an easy enough pace, theres no rushing around like a bluebottle fly bzzz bzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzz … heh!

We’ve got ourselves into a routine with the caravan and tent now, oh yeah, and also got ourselves a cool little shower tent thingy, and hooked up a basic shower, which is really cool!

So the whole place is starting to really feel like a home now, just need to get some home grown veg on the go, ooooh, can’t wait!
