Who knew making compost was so tiring

Today we made compost all day, which was reeeally knackering!

It involved putting fork loads of the weeds we have collected over the last month or so into the compost bin bay and then slashing at it for a few minutes, for the first hour or so it is ok, but after 6 hours of slashing at weeds, it gets a little tiring!

Apparently slashing the weeds so much helps them break down quicker, and in the end makes better quality compost.

We also put layers of freshly cut Comfrey which we didn’t need to harvest onto the compost pile, as Comfrey is very good for compost!
